It has been six months since a ransomware attack against the Colonial Pipeline caused widespread gasoline shortages in the Southeastern United States putting ransomware attacks near the top of the U.S. cyber agenda. Since then the United States has demanded Russia step in and reduce attacks being carried out by Russian ransomware gangs. There has been little sign Russia is willing to do so. Instead the United States has resorted to an aggressive campaign against the groups themselves.
